Worker Falls To His Death From Midtown Building: Police

A construction worker was killed in a fall from a Midtown building Friday morning, police said.

Just before 8:30 a.m. Friday, someone called 911 to report the accident, which happened near 221 East 40th St., near Third Avenue.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A construction worker was killed in a fall from a Midtown building Friday morning, police said.

Just before 8:30 a.m. Friday, someone called 911 to report the accident, which happened near 221 East 40th St., near Third Avenue.

Police found the victim, a 52-year-old man, lying on the ground, unconscious and unresponsive, with trauma throughout his body. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

The man was believed to be a construction worker who fell accidentally from an "elevated platform," police said.

The man's name has not been released, pending family notification. An investigation is ongoing and the medical examiner will determine the man's cause of death.
