Sometimes over the course of a year, businesses, often times newer ones, close down for various reasons. Here's a look at 10 local businesses that closed their doors in 2011.

  • In 2008, the Handlebar Restaurant, located at 23 Hallock Ave.Route 25A in Mt. Sinai, gained fame by appearing on FOX's Kitchen Nightmares with Chef Gordon Ramsay. The appearance didn't help the restaurant as it closed down soon after. The restaurant then reopened in 2010 as Skybox Restaurant and Sports Lounge, but didn't last and closed in Fall of this year.
