A $5 ATM Fee? Residents Say 'No Thanks'
Local residents not ready to pay increasing ATM fees.

With JPMorgan Chase currently testing out $5 ATM fees for non-members in Illinois and $4 fees in Texas, the threat of rising fees nationwide has local residents upset.
In the , customers we spoke to said they would avoid ATM fees that high at all costs and would go out of their way to find a cheaper way to access their money.
"I wouldn't use it, not at all," said one Miller Place resident. "I sincerely hope the fees don't go that high, I just think they're being greedy."

A Wading River resident in Starbucks agreed.
"With these tough economic times, five dollars is an exorbitant amount to charge for an ATM fee," she said. "I would wait until I find a cheaper ATM, the convenience wouldn't matter unless it's an emergency."

The assistant manager at right across from the in the center, would forget about the convenience of walking across the parking lot if fees were that high.
"I am a non-member and it would tick me off," he said. "I'd just walk right across the street. These days there are ATMs everywhere."
Local Chase ATMs currently charge $2.50 to use. also recently raised its rates and currently charges three dollars to non-members.
