Body Found At Side Of Long Island Road: Police

Police said that at about 7:30 a.m., "a person walking by discovered the body."

MIDDLE ISLAND, NY — The body of a person was found on the side of the road in a Long Island community early on Sunday morning, Suffolk County police said.

Police said that at about 7:30 a.m., “a person walking by discovered the body” on Whiskey Road, near Creekside Drive, in Middle Island.

The body was taken to the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner in Hauppauge for an autopsy to determine the cause of death, as well as the person’s identity, police said. Homicide detectives have not determined whether the person’s death was criminal or non-criminal “in nature,” according to police.
