UPDATE: Police ID Teen Bicyclist Fatally Struck By Car On Long Island
he 14-year-old was riding his bike when he was struck and killed at a notoriously dangerous intersection.
MILLER PLACE, NY – A 14-year-old riding his bicycle on Long Island died after being hit by a car Friday evening at a notoriously dangerous intersection.
According to police, a 52-year-old Miller Place woman was driving a 2015 Honda Pilot north on Miller Place Road when she made a left turn onto westbound Route 25A, striking Nicolo Signore, who was crossing Route 25A northbound on his bike at about 5:05 p.m.
Signore, of Miller Place, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Honda driver stayed at the scene and was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. The investigation is continuing.
A 16-year-old Miller Place boy was killed in 2015 at the same intersection after being hit by an SUV while he was attempting to cross the road. And last summer nine people were hurt, including a 4-year-old girl who suffered serious eye and facial injuries, in a two-car crash at the intersection.

Friday's crash occurred about three hours before a woman was struck and killed by a car in Lake Ronkonkoma.
