What a sad event that occured on the 4th of July outside of Huntington Harbor. Three innocent lives were lost unnecessarily. It seems that the people involved were just trying to have a great fireworks watching event with friends and family.
Overloading a boat (which is apparent to me) is a huge mistake and not having enough life preservers on board for each person (though I don't think it would have mattered if they did) is against the law.
I affectionately call you pleasure craft owners the "weekend warriors". You make me laugh when you launch you boats without the plug being put in. You love to call yourselves captains. Remember with the title of "captain" comes a huge responsibility regarding the safety of all onboard. Please think! Please respect any body of water you boat on. Life on the sea is spectacular but un-forgiving.
