If One Thing Would Have Been Different.

Could precautions have been taken before the pharmacy shootings of David Laffer?

All the articles I read before this one said David Laffer had no criminal record  But,
as I see it now, that means nothing.  No criminal record, doesn't mean there is
no criminal history.

He stole from his mother.

He stole from his job.

A detective advised that the guns should be removed from David Laffer’s home.

He should have been seen as a man with a record, but not until he murdered four people, did the world really take notice.

I sit here wondering, if one thing would have been different, would everything have been different? And how many other David Laffers are standing next to our families at the supermarket?

If you steal 8k from your mother, but your mother chooses not to report you, it doesn't make the crime any less. It should be put on record.  If an FBI special agent feels it's unsafe for you to have guns in your home, it shouldn't be up for discussion. The guns should simply be removed.  And if you steal from your job, a criminal complaint needs to be filed.  Not following through, is being irresponsible.

To do what it easy, instead of what is right, is wrong.

Yes, it is possible that if all of these actions had been reported and there was follow up and follow through, David Laffer may have still did what he did in the pharmacy that day. But, it's also possible, that he wouldn't have.

And the possibility that everything could have been different, makes me think everything should have been different.
