Vote YES for the Miller Place UFSD Budget

I am voting YES for the 2012-2013 Miller Place UFSD budget and I encourage all residents to also vote yes.

With a few exceptions, the current budget keeps our clubs, athletics, and sports programs intact but may result in the loss of 16 of our teaching professionals. This prospect was the sticking point for my support of the current budget. Every day our teachers work directly with our children fostering the academic and social skills that will prepare them for their future education and employment careers. What could be a more important part of our budget?

I spoke today with Miller Place Teachers Association President Nancy Sanders and have been assured that negotiations between the BOE and MPTA are moving forward in a positive direction. It is my hope that these negotiations will result in a substantial job savings for our teachers.

I am now confident that voting YES is in the best interest of all stakeholders who value education in this community.
