Business Up at Local Spa
Massage Envy in Rocky Point said it hasn't lost business because of the recession.
The economy may still be in the dumps, but it seems local residents aren't avoiding the spa treatment.

"Business has been very steady," said one of its employees.

The local branch of the national spa chain has job ads covering the local Craigslist page, looking for everything from sales associates to Estheticians, who perform facials and waxing services. The ads say the spa is hiring to deal with a glut of business and an employee of the store said the spa is always hiring.
Nationally, Massage Envy has seen a 29 percent jump in membership over the last year. The spa boasted 904,000 members nationally in 2010, up from 710,000 the year before.

The Rocky Point spa employs 26 massage therapists, who perform deep tissue massages, reflexology, hot stone massages and more, and four Estheticians for facials.
While each Massage Envy spa serves its local clientele, the business is corporate driven. Rocky Point's Massage Envy manager, while supplying Patch with the above information in a friendly manner, said she could not be quoted directly, as that was company policy.
