Police are asking for the public's help to find a woman who used counterfeit $100 bills in Riverhead, authorities said.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Town of Riverhead police said the woman tried to purchase items at a Riverhead store, located at 758 Old Country Road, with a counterfeit $100 bill on Nov. 22. The woman fled the store at approximately 7:45 p.m., police said.

Police said she is wanted for possession of a forged instrument.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
