Free Lymphedema Screening

A FREE Lymphedema Screening will be held at John T. Mather Memorial Hospital on Saturday, October 26 for individuals at high risk for the condition. 


The screening will take place from 9-11:30 am in Conference Rooms 1 and 2. Registration is required. To register, call 631-476-2737.


If you have been diagnosed with cancer and have had lymph nodes removed, you may be at risk of developing lymphedema, a swelling of the limbs due to an interruption of the lymphatic circulation. You should be screened if:

  • You have experienced swelling following treatment for cancer

  • Received radiation as part of your treatment

  • Have a family history of lymphedema

  • Had any procedure involving a lymph node dissection

Although lymphedema is a chronic condition, it can be managed with proper care and treatment.
