With bank loans becoming harder to secure in the current economy renting may be a viable avenue for people.
Maria Palmar, an agent for Jolie Powell realty, sees the positives of renting.
"The rental market is strong," she said. "There's a lot of health in the rental market. You don't have a lot of the problems of home ownership in this economy. You also have the flexibility of moving more easily versus owning a home."

- If you have a few friends you'd like to live with, or just a large house, there's this four bedroom colonial in Miller Place. It comes with two bathrooms and internet access and is currently renting for $3,200 a month.
- This three-bedroom ranch in Miller Place has been completely redone. There's two bathrooms with new ceramic tile, a finished basement, hardwood floors, new cabinets, new appliances, and high hats.
- Here's a cottage in Rocky Point that's renting for $1,350. Featuring one bedroom and a bathroom, this unit has been updated with new appliances, windows and siding. Also comes with an additional finished room.
- This ranch in Rocky Point highlights privacy. It's a two bedroom, one-bathroom unit set on private ground on a cul-de-sac for $2,000 a month. It has hardwood and oak floors throughout, a finished basement, washer and dryer, and a detached garage.
