Man Charged With DWI After Crashing Into Miller Place House
Accident occurred early Saturday, police say.
Police say a Port Jefferson Station man was drunk when he crashed his SUV into a Miller Place home early Saturday morning.
According to police, Gerard Tegins, 20, was driving a 2002 Hyundai SUV south on Harrison Avenue when went through a stop sign at the corner of Harrison and Parkside avenues.
Tegins lost control of the vehicle, traveled across several lawns and crashed into the living room of a house at 352 Parkside Avenue at 2:30 a.m., police said.

No one inside the home was hurt and there were no passengers in the SUV. The home, however, sustained extensive damage, police said.
Tegins was transported to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson to be treated for minor injuries.

Tegins is charged with DWI and other charges are pending. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date, police said.
