Man Dragged From LI Pool By Cop In Critical Condition: PD

Police responded to a Mount Sinai home after a 911 caller reported that a man was at the bottom of a pool.

MOUNT SINAI, NY — A 33-year-old man nearly drowned in a swimming pool in Mount Sinai on Saturday night, Suffolk County police said.

Police said officers responded to a home on North Country Road just after 8 p.m. after a 911 caller reported that a man was at the bottom of a backyard swimming pool. Officer Brian Christopher was the first to arrive at the scene, and he jumped into the pool, and dragged the man out, then began cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

The man, whose name has not been released,was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he is in critical condition, police said.
