Miller Place Recognized as 2016-2017 GRAMMY School Community

GRAMMY Foundation Honors Miller Place High School Music Department

The Miller Place High School music department was recently recognized by the GRAMMY Foundation as a 2016-2017 GRAMMY School Community for its outstanding commitment to music education during the academic school year. Miller Place High School competes with high schools across the nation for the award by recording audition tapes and submitting them to a panel of music industry professionals at the GRAMMY Foundation.

“This award is a direct result of our students’ and teachers’ talent and hard work,” said Miller Place School District Superintendent Dr. Marianne Cartisano. “We offer a rigorous music education program that contributes to our mission to educate students and nurture their artistic talent and creativity.”

The GRAMMY Foundation was established in 1988 to cultivate the understanding, appreciation and advancement of the contribution of recorded music to American culture — from the artistic and technical legends of the past to the still unimagined musical breakthroughs of future generations of music professionals. The Foundation accomplishes this mission through programs and activities that engage the music industry and cultural community, including students, as well as the general public.
