Miller Place Students Become Award Winning Artists

Elementary school students place in Juried Art Contest's 4th Annual Young Illustrator's Challenge.

Students Christian Tarsia and Allie Dimtchev from Miller Place School District’s Laddie A. Decker Sound Beach School won 1st and 2nd place respectively out of 30 entries in the 3rd-5th grade portion of the 4th Annual Young Illustrator’s Challenge.

The Juried Art Contest featured original artworks from students in kindergarten through eighth grade from different school districts across Long Island. This year’s competition theme, “Outer Space,” encouraged the students’ creations of ceramics, paintings, computer art, sculpture and other forms of expression.

Students Mia Riley, Analynn Bisiani and Lexi Burt also participated in the contest. Student Nick Follo also won an award in the sixth-eight grade grade portion. All participating students received an achievement certificate and art supplies for future projects.
