Miller Place Students Among Color Guard Champions

Two Miller Place ninth graders, twins Thor and Megan Hawrey, were two of the five members on the 2012 Civil Air Patrol Long Island Group Color Guard Champions.

The Hawreys, along with Peter Tsakonis, Ed Nelson and Chris Russo, are young members of the Col. Francis S. Gabreski Cadet Squadron, which meets in Bellport.

The CAP Cadet Program is open to 12-21 year olds interested in aviation or the military and provide flight training, summer activities, emergency services training, academic scholarships and more.
