A Mastic man was killed Sunday night after he crashed his motorcycle while attempting to flee the scene of another crash he had just been involved in, police said.
According to police, Russell Pallace, 54, was riding a 2008 Harley Davidson eastbound on Route 25A when he sideswiped a 2009 Cadillac. The Cadillac suffered minor damage but its driver was not injured, police said.
Pallace fled the scene of the crash and headed westbound on Route 25A, police said. He then turned south on Rocky Point Road and attempted to pass other vehicles on the road when he lost control of the motorcycle shortly before 9 p.m., police said.

The motorcycle left the roadway and struck a number of trees, police said.

Pallace was pronounced dead at the scene. The motorcycle was impounded for safety checks.
The investigation is continuing and police are asking anyone who has any information about either of the crashes to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
