Rocky Point Athletics In The Spotlight
5 students from Rocky Point High have been recognized for their athletic accomplishments by being named to Newsday's All-Long Island teams.

MILLER PLACE-ROCKY POINT, NY - From Rocky Point Union Free School District: Five students from Rocky Point High School have been recognized for their outstanding athletic accomplishments by being named to Newsday’s All-Long Island teams for this past winter sports season.
Rocky Point wrestlers, brothers Anthony Sciotto, a senior, and Logan Sciotto, a sophomore, were named to Newsday’s All-Long Island Second team. Samantha Ferrara, a junior, was named Suffolk Cheerleader of the Year and a member of the All-Long Island team. Julia Buckley, was named to the All-Long Island Second team for cheerleading. Brandon Epp was also recognized as a member of the Section XI State Champion team for bowling.
Cheerleading coach Anna Spallina was named Suffolk County Coach of the Year.

Following each competition season, Newsday staff members select Long Island high school students from each sport to be recognized as All-Long Island team members.
“It’s an amazing honor,” Samantha said. “It proves if you work hard all the time, it will work out in the end.”

In addition to the honors from Newsday, the Suffolk County Wrestling Coaches Association named Darren Goldstein the Suffolk County, Division I Coach of the Year and on April 20, Darren was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
