Rocky Point Middle Robotics Teams Advance

The teams both qualified for the Championship Tournament in Longwood on March 4 based on their performance.

MILLER PLACE-ROCKY POINT, NY - From Rocky Point School District: Rocky Point Middle School’s two robotics teams recently competed in the FIRST Long Island Qualifying Tournament in Smithtown and both qualified for the Championship Tournament in Longwood on March 4 based on their performance.

During the Smithtown event, the students competed against 27 other teams and captured the first three awards.

The Robo Eagles won the Alliance Award for scoring the highest point total on the Robot Table as a pair in the Alliance Round and the prestigious "Judges Award" for their unique efforts, performance or dynamics.

The Radical Robotix team was awarded the "Project Research Award for their diverse resources to formulate an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the problem they have identified." This year's competition theme is "Hydro Dynamics." The research project chosen by the team is a "Desalination Aviation Life Vest."
