Shirley Man, 22, Pointed Gun At Motorist In Selden: PD

Omar Anderson was found a short distance away and was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, cops say.

SELDEN, NY — A 22-year-old Shirley man was arrested Saturday after pointing a gun at a man sitting at a red light in Selden, Suffolk police say.

At about 10:30 p.m., aman driving a pickup truck westbound on Middle Country Road was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Blue Point Road when another man, who was driving a 2017 Chrysler 300, "pulled up next to him and pointed a handgun in the direction of the truck," police said.

The pickup truck driver "drove through the red light and continued on Middle Country Road until he saw and flagged down a marked Suffolk police vehicle," police said.

Police canvassed the area and found the Chrysler "a short distance from the original incident," said police, adding that the driver, Omar Anderson, was "in possession of a handgun and was placed under arrest."

Police did not release any further details about the incident.

Anderson was charged with second-and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree menacing. He was held overnight at the 6th Precinct for arraignment in First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday.
