Miller Place School District Recognizes HS Student for Outstanding Achievements

Miller Place, NY (April 2019)—Miller Place School District is proud celebrate Casey Sauer, student at MPHS, for his outstanding academic achievements, abundant extracurricular participation and for providing an overall positive impact on their schools and communities. Casey is a dedicated, selfless and empathetic student who has had a lasting impact on the lives of those around in both in the classroom and throughout the community.

“We are thrilled to once again honor students who go above and beyond both in and outside of the classrooms,” said Dr. Marianne Cartisano, superintendent of the Miller Place School District. “Casey is a remarkable student who goes above and beyond time and time again, representing the compassion and motivation that the District aims to instill in each of our students. We look forward to witnessing the continued success and the contributions that Casey will make as he ventures out in the world.”

Casey is heavily invested in Blanca’s House, a non-profit organization that goes on medical missions to impoverished countries in South America. He gathers items for wash kits, such as toothpaste and shampoo, and assembles them here in Long Island to send overseas. On several occasions, Casey has assisted his father on these medical missions utilizing his Spanish language skills while working in the IT Department during the trips.

Casey is an animal lover and can often be found volunteering at Save-A-Pet. He is a leader of the Gay-Straight Alliance and is involved in the Science Club, Robotics Team, Service Club, National Honor Society and National Foreign Language Honor Society at Miller Place High School. As an avid photographer as well, Casey has even had one of his photos published in National Geographic. Following high school, Casey hopes to pursue a major in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering in College. His biggest dream is to put humans on Mars.
