Wading River Fire Department Members Honored at Annual Installation Dinner

WADING RIVER, NY – Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker recently attended the Wading River Fire Department’s Annual Fire District Inspection and Installation Dinner at East Wind Long Island in Wading River. Legislator Sarah Anker joined elected officials and the Wading River Fire Department members in honoring the newly installed incoming officers as well as other department members for their achievements and many years of dedicated service, including Steven Martin for receiving Company 2 Member of the Year and the High Alarm Award; Kevin Brayer for receiving Member of the Year and the High Point Alarm Award; Karyn Borner for receiving Probationary Member of the Year and the High Alarm Award; James Pirnak for receiving the Chief’s Award; William Savage for receiving the High Alarm Award; Chris Cummings, James Brady, Marisa Cox, and Greg Curiel for receiving the High Point Award; Robert Masucci for 40 Years of Service; and Robert Klement for 50 Years of Service. During the awards ceremony, Robert Klement was honored by the Department and its members as an Honorary Chief.

“It is always an honor to attend the Wading River Fire Department’s Annual Inspection and Installation Dinner and to have the opportunity to recognize members of the department for their achievements and many years of dedicated service,” said Legislator Anker. “I want to thank all the members of the Wading River Fire Department for going above and beyond the call of duty and for their continued and courageous service to the community during a challenging year.”

“The Chief’s Office extends tremendous gratitude to the members of the Wading River Fire Department who selflessly heightened their efforts to serve the community during these unpredictable and unprecedented times,” said First Assistant Chief Denise Gluck. “These men and women continue to give back to the community as volunteers. We thank them and their families for their ongoing service.”

The Wading River Fire Department has been providing emergency services to the residents of the Wading River since its establishment in 1947. The department operates out of two fire stations; the main firehouse is located at 1503 North Country Road, Wading River and Station 2 is located at 700 Hulse Landing Road, Wading River. On average, the department responds to over 1,000 calls each year, with a high percentage being EMS related incidents.
