2 Accused of Robbing, Beating Man in Westbury

The robbery occurred Monday morning, police say.

Two New Cassel residents were arrested for robbing a man at knifepoint and beating him to the ground Monday morning in Westbury, police say.

According to authorities, a 55-year-old man was walking westbound on Butler Street when he was approached by two men who displayed a knife, hit him in the head and body and knocked him to the ground at 1:50 a.m.

The robbers took the man’s cellphone and wallet, which contained an undetermined amount of cash and personal papers, and fled the scene on foot towards Post Avenue.

Officers responding to the scene saw two men fitting the description of the robbers on Union Avenue and Sullivan Lane.

Erving Pierre-Louis, 18, and Kevin Franklin,19, were placed under arrest following an investigation.

They were both charged with first-degree robbery and two counts of second-degree robbery. Franklin was additionally charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Pierre-Louis and Franklin will be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
