2 Workers Injured in Mineola Ceiling Collapse
Emergency crews removed two trapped construction workers who were removing asbestos, officials said.

A partial ceiling collapse at a building in MIneola has left two people injured Friday morning, authorities said.
According to police, officers responded to the building, at 101 County Seat Drive, which was being prepared for asbestos abatement by workers of PAL Environmental Services.
When police arrived they confirmed that 19 workers had been in the building at the time of the collapse. Two male workers 22 and 46 years of age sustained non-life threatening injuries. The two victims were decontaminated for asbestos exposure as a precaution and then transported by a Nassau County Police Ambulance to a nearby local hospital for treatment, police said.

Nassau County Third Precinct Police were assisted by the Nassau County Police Emergency Services Unit, Garden City Police and Fire Departments, Nassau County Fire Marshall, New York State Court Officers, Westbury, Carl Place, Garden City Park, Mineola Fire Departments. Also on the scene was the Port Washington and Manhasset-Lakeville Tactical Rescue Team.
Seventeen additional workers were not injured, police said.
