Here are the top stories in Mineola today:

  1. A second COVID-19 booster shot is now available for people aged 50 and over and all those who are immunocompromised, as long as they received their first COVID-19 booster at least four months ago. Eligible individuals in Nassau County can receive their booster at the New York state-run site at SUNY Old Westbury in the Clark Athletic Center, Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon. (Patch)
  2. A new Asian grocery store is opening on Saturday at the Samanea New York Mall in Westbury, formerly the Mall at The Source: 99 Ranch Market. The store is the first New York location for the national grocery store chain of 55 stores based in California that sells Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Southeast Asian food. (Garden City Patch)
  3. Be careful if you are an oyster aficionado: The FDA warns that potentially contaminated raw oysters from British Columbia were distributed to restaurants and stores in New York and at least 13 other states and could be linked to a norovirus outbreak. The norovirus causes the stomach flu with symptoms of stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and nausea. (News12 Long Island)
