- The Town of North Hempstead's annual Spring Fest at Clark Botanic Garden, 193 I.U. Willets Road in Albertson, returns this year on Saturday, April 30 from noon to 5 p.m. The day-long event, which had been paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will feature nature hikes through the garden's 12 manicured acres with flowers in bloom, animal and paleontology presentations, and magic and raptor shows, among other attractions. - Two star pitchers on the Flyers at Chaminade High School in Mineola are poised to lead the baseball team to another Catholic High Schools Athletic Association title, and maybe a New York state championship as well. Senior pitchers John Downing and J.J. Gatti are both signed to Division 1 colleges for next year, and attribute their success to participating in Next Level Baseball, an amateur program in Farmingdale that helps develop top Long Island athletes. - Mineola Truck CO.2 - The Workhorse Company: "On Tuesday, April 12, at approximately 7:13 p.m., our department was alerted for a building fire on Jericho Turnpike and Andrews Road. TL168 was quickly en route as 2nd Assistant Chief B. Strauss (1602) arrived on scene and stated that there is nothing going on here. At this point, Firecom advised 1602 that Garden City Park Fire Department is going out for a building fire with multiple calls at the intersection of Jericho Turnpike and Herricks Road, which is the border between Mineola and Garden City Park. TL168 redirected themselves to the other location and when 1602 arrived on scene at Jericho and Herricks he advised of a working fire." (Facebook)
