• 76-Year-Old Woman Scammed Out Of $60K, Police Seek Public's Help: PD (patch.com) — A 76-year-old woman was scammed out of $60,000 after meeting two men in Williston Park and Mineola, where she handed over cash following a fake Apple Pay fraud alert text. Nassau County police say the investigation is ongoing and are urging anyone in Mineola or nearby communities with information to contact Crime Stoppers or call 911 anonymously.
   

• Queens man indicted, five others charged in large-scale narcotics bust in Nassau (longislandpress.com) — A major narcotics trafficking investigation centered on Nassau County culminated in Mineola, where officials detailed indictments against six people accused of moving large quantities of fentanyl and other drugs into local communities. Authorities say a July search recovered more than half a million potentially fatal doses, plus firearms and cash. The alleged operation touched several Nassau towns, and all defendants have pleaded not guilty so far.
