Joseph Greco, MD, Appointed Chair of Winthrop Medical Staff Quality Improvement Advisory Committee

Joseph Greco, MD, Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at and the Hospital’s Patient Safety Officer, has been appointed Chair of the Hospital’s Medical Staff Quality Improvement Advisory Committee.

In this new position, Dr. Greco will work closely with Michael Ammazzalorso, MD, Winthrop’s Chief Medical Officer, and John F. Collins, President & CEO of Winthrop, to ensure the continued success of the Hospital’s Performance Improvement program.

Dr. Greco joined the Winthrop faculty in 1991 as attending anesthesiologist and was promoted to Vice Chairman, Department of Anesthesiology in 1997 and Chairman in 2001.

In addition to the leadership responsibilities as Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology, Dr. Greco has played a key role in driving Quality and Patient Safety Initiatives at Winthrop.

Dr. Greco earned his medical degree at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. His postgraduate training included an internship in internal medicine and a residency in anesthesiology at Mount Sinai, where he served as Chief Resident for Anesthesiology.

He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesia, the New York Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Society of Professionals in Patient Safety.
