Winthrop-University Hospital Hosts Healthcare Career Fair for More than 125 Massapequa High School Students

More than 125 students from Massapequa High School visited Winthrop-University Hospital’s Community Outreach Center on March 2 to participate in a Healthcare Career Fair, an initiative designed exclusively for students thanks to the Hospital’s partnership with Massapequa High School’s Healthcare Career Academy.

Students had an opportunity to visit display tables where staff from more than 20 Winthrop departments including Pharmacy, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Orthopaedics, Human Resources and Radiology among others, spoke to students about their specific job responsibilities and the various career opportunities in the healthcare field as well as the educational requirements. In addition, representatives from the American Red Cross and the Nassau County Department of Health were on site to provide educational information to students about health and safety. Students also had the chance to watch a demonstration of casting for broken limbs, and to participate in tours of the Hospital.
