Here are the top stories today in Mineola:

  1. More than 30 Long Island high schools were named to the top 100 in New York state on the Niche.com 2022 rankings of the best public high schools in the country. Two schools that include parts of Mineola made the cut: Garden City High School was listed as number 36 and The Wheatley School as number 40. Mineola High School was number 143 on the list of Best College Prep public high schools in New York. (Patch)
  2. A cardiologist with a practice in Great Neck was indicted on federal charges of defrauding Medicare and Medicaid of more than $1.3 million during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Perry Frankel, 64, owner and operator of Advanced Cardiovascular Diagnostics PLLC is accused of submitting fraudulent claims for office visits that never happened for patients who received COVID-19 tests at one of his mobile testing sites. Frankel is represented by former Suffolk County district attorney Timothy Sini. (Patch)
  3. A new million-and-a-half-dollar house has hit the market in Mineola at 100 Brown St. The 4-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom home asking $1,500,000 is new construction, and there is still time to customize it to your liking.
