New interesting and fresh organic flavors in American cuisine in Carle Place.

They’ve kept the herbal butter from Camille’s, the previous restaurant at 490 Westbury Avenue, but chef/owner Pat Ippolito’s new American cuisine is bringing lots of fresh flavors to 490 West.

490 West – Ippolito uses earth-friendly products. The fish are wild caught and the meats have no added antibiotics or hormones. So, for example, pork tenderloin from the highly praised Du Breton company in Quebec is prepared with sweet potatoes, red cabbage and pomegranate and pea puree, and wild salmon is served over black beans and couscous with basil sauce.

One appetizer is brie and red onions and papaya wrapped in filo, baked and served with apricot chutney and balsamic reduction. The jumbo lump crab cakes are finished with tomato compote, remolded and chipolte honey. Pastas include ricotta gnocchi with sage brown butter and wild mushroom risotto; all pastas can be had as appetizers or main course.

All desserts are prepared in-house. Intriguing items are rice flour cheesecake and banana fritters with sweet chili sauce.
