Bites Nearby: Mitch & Toni’s American Bistro
Local, seasonal and contemporary food hits the mark at Mitch & Toni's.
When Mitchell SuDock was a boy and his mom played tennis, he watched Julia Child and Graham Kerr on the TV in the clubroom while waiting for her. It paid off.
Mitch & Toni’s – SuDock and Toni Contino worked closely together at the now-closed Bistro M in Glen Head, where SuDock was the chef/owner and Contino the manager. The two were such a great team that they decided to open a restaurant together and Mitch and Toni’s is the result.
A helping of salmon mousse and toast rounds starts off the meal for all diners. SuDock brings together ingredients, tastes, textures and aromas; each dish is an artful combination of ingredients such as shrimp dumplings with mesclun, cashews, crispy wontons and sesame vinaigrette ($9), and soft four tortillas filled with lobster tempura and served with pickled cabbage and tomato-chipotle salsa ($12).
