🌱 Body Found Near Sands Point Beach + Pedestrian Critically Injured

Here are the top stories today in Mineola:

  1. A man's body was discovered near a beach in Sands Point over the weekend. A resident was walking on Saturday morning when he found the body, who was pronounced dead by authorities. Sands Point police, who are investigating, said the victim appeared to be a man in his 50s. They ask anyone with information to call 911 or 1-800-244-TIPS. (Patch)
  2. A pedestrian was struck crossing South Franklin Street near Elm Street in Hempstead Friday afternoon and was severely injured, according to Nassau County police. The man in his 30s was struck by a 2019 Nissan driven by a 36-year-old woman at 2:15 p.m., police said. The man was taken to a nearby hospital and is in critical but stable condition. (Patch)
  3. An arrest was made over the weekend at Adelphi University in Garden City for a sexual assault in Earle Hall, one of the school's residence halls. Nassau's Special Victims Unit and Garden City police were called to the scene and are investigating, according to Adelphi officials. (News 12 Long Island)
