🌱 Cannabis for Sale in Mineola? + Pedestrian Struck and Killed

Welcome to the Mineola Daily— your source for the lowdown on all things Mineola.

Happy Tuesday, people of Mineola! Here's everything you need to know going on in town today.

First, today's weather:

Sunny and breezy. High: 66, low: 56.

Here are the top stories in Mineola today:

  1. Residents spoke out at a hearing before the Mineola Board of Trustees about allowing the sale of retail cannabis in the village or blocking it, as the nearby villages of Williston Park, New Hyde Park and Floral Park decided against selling it. Mineola locals expressed mixed views on the controversial issue to officials, who will vote in the coming weeks on whether to follow suit under a news state law that legalized the use of cannabis wherever smoking tobacco is legal. (The Island Now)
  2. A male pedestrian was struck and killed in Old Brookville on Saturday evening by a 2014 Jeep going southbound on Glen Cove Road near the intersection of Glen Head Road. The 58-year-old victim suffered severe trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene. (Nassau County Police Department)
  3. About 20 gunshots were fired into an unoccupied car parked on a Uniondale street at 4:05 a.m. on Sunday. Police officers could not locate any witnesses in the area. (Mineola Patch)
