Chaminade Grad Battles Cancer for the Second Time

A Go Fund Me was created to help take the extreme financial burden off James Gould's family.

A Chaminade High School graduate had plans of attending Holy Cross College in the fall to become a doctor, but a recent diagnosis has instead landed him in the doctor’s office as a cancer patient.

On Wednesday, July 1 of this year, James Gould was diagnosed with secondary AML Leukemia.

Gould will require a bone marrow transplant once he gets into remission.

While he has a long struggle ahead of him, many have already shown support for Gould.

Gould’s father Jimmy has taken a leave from work to be at his son’s side during this time.

Also, a Go Fund Me account was created by a family friend to help ease the extreme financial burden the Gould family will face.

The fundraiser, which started Thursday, July 30, has already raised over $2,500.

Robert Lyman, the creator of the Go Fund Me account, wrote, “As a parent I have no words. As a friend I’ll do everything and anything in my power. I hope my friends stand with me.”

Gould is no stranger to fighting battles. He battled Hodgkin’s disease, a cancer of the immune system, during his junior year at Chaminade.

“Please love your kids,” Lyman wrote. “We never know what tomorrow brings.”
