Police officers will be visiting schools on a regular basis, officials plan to announce. This will allow them to learn the layout of the school buildings and introduce themselves to administrators, educators and students. In the event of an emergency, all police vehicles will be equipped with a breaching tool that will allow them to access locked doors and a tourniquet to stop excessive bleeding.
Michael Nagler, the superintendent of Mineola's public school system, will attend as well as other school officials.
