🌱 Crime Up 93 Percent In 3rd & 6th Precincts + LIMTF At Adelphi
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Mineola.

Hi all. It's me, Joanne Gallo, your host of the Daily. Here's what you need to know about what's happening these days in town.
First, today's weather:
Decreasing clouds. High: 89, low: 71.
📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Mineola who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.
I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Mineola Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.
Here are the top stories today in Mineola:
- Major crime increased a whopping 93 percent for the first quarter of this year in Nassau County's Third and Sixth precincts compared to the first quarter of last year, according to data from the Nassau County Police Department. Mineola, Williston Park and many surrounding communities are part of the Third Precinct, while Roslyn, Great Neck, Manhasset, etc., are part of the Sixth Precinct. Much of the increase was attributed to stolen vehicles, but there were also acts of murder, rape, commercial burglaries and grand larceny, among others. (The Island 360)
- Stephen Schwartz, composer of Broadway's "Wicked" and "Pippin" among others, is the guest artist this summer at the Long Island Musical Theatre Festival (LIMTF) at Adelphi University's Performing Arts Center in Garden City. Students will have the opportunity to work with the musical theater great on a production of a show that will be performed at Adelphi. A graduate of Mineola High School, Schwartz recalled participating in concerts at his alma mater and said it had good music and drama programs for a public school. (Dan's Papers)
- Nassau County police arrested Melinda Medina, 47, of Levittown on Monday after she reportedly attacked officers when they were giving her son a ticket on Hempstead Turnpike for driving with a suspended license. Medina used her walking crutch to hit an officer, police said, and then she spat at others. When taken to a local hospital for evaluation, Medina punched an officer in the face. (Patch)
