🌱 Deadliest L.I. Towns For Pedestrians + GC Starbucks To Unionize
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Mineola.

Hello, everybody. It's Wednesday in Mineola and I'm back in your inbox to get you caught up on all the most important things happening in town.
First, today's weather:
Partial sunshine. High: 81, low: 64.
📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Mineola who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.
I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Mineola Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.
Here are the top stories today in Mineola:
- With several pedestrian deaths on local streets just in the past month, six Long Island towns have been singled out by advocate groups for being particularly dangerous for people on foot: Hempstead, Roosevelt, Baldwin, Wyandanch, Huntington Station and Central Islip. Studies showed that people in these areas are often running across busy roads with no crosswalks. Advocates are calling for extending sidewalks for pedestrians and narrowing lanes to slow speeds. (ABC7NY)
- A second Long Island Starbucks store has voted to unionize and join the growing movement: the location at The Gallery at Westbury Plaza at 900 Old Country Road in Garden City. Employees voted unanimously to join the union and follow the Massapequa Village Square Starbucks. A Great Neck Starbucks also voted to unionize the same day as the Massapequa location, but the bid was defeated. (Mineola Patch)
- Live music returns to the Memorial Park Amphitheater this Saturday, June 18, with the kick-off of the Village of Mineola's Concerts in the Park summer series. Swingtime Big Band performs music from the big band era starting at 7:30 p.m. Attendees are advised to bring your own beach blankets or lawn chairs for watching the show. (Village of Mineola)

- Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body — Alzheimer's Association Long Island: 1601 Marcus Ave., New Hyde Park. (1 p.m.)

- St. Aidan School - Williston Park: "Today we celebrated our youngest learners at St. Aidan School! Family and friends gathered for our nursery graduation ceremonies. It was pure cuteness overload! We are so proud of these adorable students in our six nursery classes and wish them the best in Pre-K next year! Thank you to our amazing early childhood teachers and teacher assistants for a wonderful year 'together in learning, together in Christ'." (St. Aidan School - Williston Park via Facebook)

We are so excited to see all that you'll go on to do, and we look forward to being there for you in the future." (Family & Children's Association via Facebook)
