🌱 Deadly East Garden City Crash + Mineola Says No to Marijuana
Catch up on everything going down around town today with the Mineola Daily.

Hey, people of Mineola! Joanne Gallo here with a fresh Mineola Daily.
First, today's weather:
Partly sunny. High: 64, low: 42.
Here are the top stories in Mineola today:
- One person died and two others were injured in a multi-car crash on Stewart Avenue in East Garden City Monday afternoon. According to the Nassau County Police Department, a flatbed tow truck hit a red SUV, injuring a 54-year-old woman driving the SUV and her 16-year-old passenger. The crash then caused the tow truck to hit a white van, killing the van's driver. (Nassau County Police Department)
- In a vote last Wednesday of 4-1, the Mineola Board of Trustees opted out of allowing the sale of retail marijuana in the village. The decision follows the nearby villages of Williston Park, New Hyde Park and Floral Park to block the adult use cannabis industry in their towns. Mineola Mayor Scott Strauss said at a previous hearing that he did not want to subject the village to increased traffic from being the only village in the area selling retail marijuana. (The Island Now)
- More than 6,200 pounds of electronic waste were collected by Mineola Middle School students from community members during the annual e-waste drive on Oct. 28. Mineola residents were asked to drop off non-working or unused items like televisions, printers, computers, tablets and smartphones for their proper disposal and keep them out of landfills.
