Drunken Driver Rear Ends Police Car in Hicksville: Police
The officer inside the car was taken to a local hospital for treatment Sunday night, police said.

HICKSVILLE, NY- A police officer was taken to the hospital after a Kings Park man drove drunk and struck the officer’s marked police car in Hicksville on Sunday night, police said.
According to authorities, James Petrone, 59, was driving a 2000 Ford pickup truck northbound on North Broadway when he struck the rear of a police car that was parked with its emergency lights on at 10:40 p.m.
The officer, who was sitting in the driver’s seat, was engaging in a separate traffic stop in front of 41 North Broadway when the crash occurred.

The officer requested assistance and was transported to a local hospital to be evaluated and treated.
Petrone was arrested without incident following an investigation. He was charged with third degree assault, DWI, and a violation for failing to move over for an emergency vehicle.

He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead.
