Duo Followed People Home From Stores To Rob Them: Nassau Police

Police say they targeted people who made expensive purchases and then followed them in order to rob them, often breaking into their cars.

Nassau County police, working with officers from many other police departments, arrested two men from Queens and charged them with multiple burglaries that occurred all over Long Island over a period of months.

According to police, Jarry Gonzales-Ramos, 28, and Andres Quintero-Mendoza, 33, both of the same address on 95th Street in East Elmhurst, would follow their victims home after they had purchased expensive goods from the Americana Shopping Center, located at 2060 Northern Boulevard in Manhasset.

  • On Oct. 5, 2018 at 5:30 p.m., police say they entered the garage of a home on Todd Drive East in Glen Head and stole two Louis Vuitton handbags, valued at $3,690, from a BMW.
  • On Nov. 13, 2018 at 5:05 p.m., police say they broke the window of a 2017 Chrysler parked in a lot on West Jericho Turnpike in Mineola and stole a Mac Book Air worth $1,700. They also caused $400 in damage to the car, police said.
  • On Dec. 2, 2018 at 3:45 p.m., police say the broke the window of a 2018 Tesla parked in the driveway of a hom on Woodland Way in Manhasset and stole a Mac Book Air worth $867. They also caused about $500 in damage to the car, police said.
  • On Jan. 31, 2019 at 1:23 p.m., police say they broke the window of a 2017 Acura parked in a lot on Hillside Avenue in Garden City Park and stole a Louis Vuitton handbag worth $2,600. They also caused about $500 in damage to the car, police said.

Police say the two were located at their home at 6:20 p.m. on Feb. 27 and placed under arrest. The Nassau County Burglary Pattern Squad worked with other Nassau County squads, as well as members of the NYPD Queens Grand Larceny Task Force to capture the duo. Police say they also shared information with the Suffolk County Police Department and multiple police departments in New Jersey.

Quintero-Mendoza and Gonzales-Ramos are both charged with second-degree burglary, two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, three counts of third-degree criminal mischief and petty larceny. They are scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday.
