Here are the top stories in Mineola today:

  1. Mark Small of Elmont pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to second degree murder charges for the death of his girlfriend, Marivel Estevez, who was found shot to death in her apartment at The Allure Mineola. A few weeks before the incident, Small was forced to close Grotto, the Rockville Centre restaurant he owned, according to Nassau County police. Thursday night, Estevez reportedly told Small she wanted to end their volatile two-year relationship, leading to an argument in which he shot her. Small was ordered to be held without bail. (NBC New York)
  2. As real estate prices are starting to drop in our area due to rising interest rates, some Mineola homes on the market have lowered their asking price. A 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom Colonial with more than 2400-square-feet of living space, 116 Millington Place in the Park section is now asking $799,000, a drop of 5.8 percent from its original price of $848,000. (Mineola Patch)
  3. A Nassau County worker found a swastika drawn with a marker on a piece of lighting equipment at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, on Park Boulevard between ballfields 14 and 15. If you have any information about this incident, please call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. Callers will be protected and can remain anonymous. (CBS New York)
