"Enduring Images" Exhibition

David Filderman Gallery -- Daily, 10am-5pm thru 1/31/2016 -- FREE -- 516-463-5672 -- www.hofstra.edu/museum

As active witnesses to or participants in an experience, or as passive observers, artists through the centuries have played a pivotal role in capturing and recording the events of our times. Drawn from the Hofstra University Museum’s permanent collections, this exhibition focuses on the lasting record created by an artist’s visual responses to critical moments in time. The artist Yonia Fain, a Holocaust survivor considered a “witness to history,” will be represented, along with artists such as George Grosz, Käthe Kollwitz, and Jacob Lawrence.
