Ceremonies formalizing the adoption of 18 children in Nassau County foster care will take place at the Long Island Children's Museum (LICM) during National Adoption Month.
This event will mark the first time adoptions have taken place outside of the courtroom setting; this marks the relationship LICM has developed between Family Court and the Dept. of Social Services.
National Adoption month focuses on children in the Child Welfare System that are in foster care and freed, waiting to be adopted.
