Instructor: Dorothy Scott
Tai chi is an ancient Chinese exercise sometimes referred to as “moving meditation” due to its slow dance-like steps and deep breathing. Through these gentle movements the body becomes more relaxed, helping to reduce stress and calm anxiety. It is also known to help lower blood pressure and boost the immune system. The positions in this gentle form of exercise also act to improve posture and balance without putting undue stress on muscles or joints. People of all ages can do this exercise at their own level. Comfortable clothing and shoes are recommended. Bring bottled water.
Dorothy Scott is an instructor and practitioner of tai chi at Clark Botanical Gardens in Albertson.
The workshop is held at Alumni House, 154 Cambridge Avenue, Adelphi University, Garden City. Although there is no charge, pre-registration is required. Call 516-877-4325.
