Four Charged With Forging Nassau County Checks

BREAKING: Police say they forged payroll checks and cashed them across the county.

Four people were arrested by Nassau police for forging checks and cashing them at banks across the county.

The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of four people for possession of a forged instrument that occurred throughout Nassau County.

According to Crimes Against Property Squad detectives, the four fraudulently reproduced Nassau County payroll checks and then cashed the counterfeit checks at various check cashing and bank locations throughout Nassau County.

Courtney Myers, 32, of 233th Street, Queens, was arrested on Aug. 18 and charged with second-degree possession of a forged instrument. He was arraigned on Aug. 19, 2016.

Domonique May, 19, of Louis Avenue, Elmont, was arrested on Sept. 10 and was charged with second-degree possession of a forged instrument and criminal possession of marijuana. He was arraigned on Sept. 11.

Jeannette Murphy, 19, of Monroe Avenue, Bay Shore, was arrested on Nov. 2 and was charged with two counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument and fourth-degree grand larceny. She was arraigned on Nov. 3.

Latoine Bennett, 20, of Pennsylvania Avenue, Roosevelt, was arrested on Jan. 30 and was being charged with seven counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument and fourth-degree grand larceny. He was arraigned on Jan. 30.

After an extensive investigation by detectives, the four were arrested without incident for a total loss to the various banking institution of more than $2,000. They were all arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead.
