- In response to the wave of gun violence plaguing our nation, a march calling for gun law reform will be held in Mineola this Saturday, June 11 at the Nassau County Supreme Court, 100 Supreme Court Drive from 1:30-3 p.m. The event is organized by March For Our Lives, who have organized a demonstration in Washington D.C. as well as hundreds of sister marches across the country for this Saturday. - The Village of Mineola is opening the John S. DaVanzo Community Pool (230 Liberty Ave.) at Wilson Park on Saturday, June 18, though residents are wondering about the unfinished construction at the park. Mineola Mayor Paul Pereira said that the work on the tennis courts and other upgrades "will hopefully be done very soon." (The Island 360)
- Mineola Union Free School District music teacher Marc Ratner is in the running for the 2023 Music Educator Award™ presented by the Recording Academy® and GRAMMY Museum®.
