On December 14, 2014 at 2PM at the Community Church of East Williston, acclaimed jazz pianist Kurt Thum will join pianist-composer and CCEW music director Raphael Fusco in an exciting concert of holiday favorites arranged for two pianos. The Thum-Fusco Piano Duo’s unique sound crosses genres from Classical to Jazz, Pop to Rock, and has beguiled audiences of all ages throughout the tri-state area. The duo’s rare Long Island appearance will feature original arrangements, improvisations and seasonal favorites that are sure to get your holidays started on a high note. Following the performance will be a special reception where you can meet and greet the artists while enjoying scrumptious holiday treats.

About the Artists
What happens when one of the most sought after jazz pianists in the tri-state area joins forces with an award-winning composer/pianist from the international classical musical scene? A musical mélange of thought-provoking creativity, flashy virtuosity, and sensual expression unique to the Thum-Fusco Duo.

Kurt Thum is active as a full time session pianist keyboardist. He has recorded on numerous albums with artists ranging from folk to blues and funk as well as jazz and gospel. He has toured with such acts as “Woman of Ireland,” April Smith and The Great Picture Show” among others and has played for several live TV and radio performances. Kurt currently performs with numerous bands and artists throughout the tri-state area and is in high demand for session work at Degraw Sound in Brooklyn. Kurt studied classical piano with Dr. Tom Olason, and Dr. Ruth Shempf and holds a Bachelor degree in Jazz piano performance from SUNY New Paltz.

Raphael Fusco is in high demand as a composer, keyboardist, and conductor in the U.S. and Europe. The recipient of numerous honors and awards, he studied at the G. Verdi Conservatorio of Turin, Paris Schola Cantorum, Vienna Conservatory, and holds degrees in composition from Mannes College of Music in Manhattan. In October 2014 he toured the US with Grammy award winning composer and saxophonist Branford Marsalis. The Los Angeles Times praised Raphael as a “lively player and fine improviser.” The New York Times hailed his performance at Le Poisson Rouge as “winning and accomplished,” while El Mundo noted Raphael as “one of the most outstanding emerging composers.” For more please visit www.raphaelfusco.com.
