Joseph L. Couture, 80, Korean Veteran

Joseph L. Couture passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at his home in Granby, MA at the age of 80.

He was born in Mineola, Long Island, NY on July 9, 1932 to Leo and Elizabeth (Schwinn) Couture. He served his country in the United States Army, serving in Korea then worked for Northeast Utilities for 28 years, retiring as a manager in 1985.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, and working on old gas engines.

Joseph was predeceased by a son, Stephen Couture (1996), and his sister, Elizabeth Hennessey (2012). He is survived by his children: Joseph L.A. Couture (South Deerfield), David A. Couture (CT), Brendon A. Couture (South Hadley), Brian J. Couture (South Hadley), Melissa L. Couture (South Hadley), Natalie E. Couture (South Hadley), Pamela Couture (Springfield), and Denise Maille (Ohio). He is also survived by his brother Robert Couture, and his wife Eileen (Southampton), as well as many grandchildren.

Calling hours will be at the Ryder Funeral Home, 33 Lamb Street, South Hadley, on Monday, April 1, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Family and friends can gather Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. in the Ryder Funeral Home for a precession to the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery for a service at 10 a.m. with full military honors.
